My Chicken Taylor!

Day One

For those of you who don't know me, my name is Caleah, author of the blog http://mykrasithoughts.blogspot.com/ where I blog about books. (Pretty much my favorite topic next to music.) That blog was and is my first ever but something has happened that made me develop a new blog.

And that news is I have a chicken. That's right. Oh, but it's no ordinary chicken. Believe me its not. Unlike other people who know where they get their chickens-either bought or hatched from chicks-they usually have an idea. However as for me....

My chicken just...appeared. Yeah, you heard that right. It was about a week ago on Tuesday, October 23rd in the morning, when my mother shouted at me that we have a chicken in the backyard and to "COME!"
Now, me, I was sort of out of it. Just got up in the morning so I thought maybe mom was making a joke to get me out of bed.
Yeah...no.

I looked out my window, and there strutting her stuff, was a chicken in my backyard. Just there, pecking at our yard like she owned it. I immediately ran outside and surprisingly she stayed not scared at all, which was the beginning of what her name would be.

My mother commented that she was so fearless, and when I got close to the chicken I noticed how cool her tail looked really cool to me. Not to mention the fact that I love Taylor Swift (Coincidence, right?! It was destiny) and...Hence, my chicken's name was Taylor.

A seed was already forming in my mind that I'd like to keep her and perhaps I can write something about this phenomenon in my life. (As you can tell, I don't do much to fill my empty spaces in my life. To be honest my life is boring.) I love to write for one, and I could already tell that I loved this chicken. It's just something you feel on site.
At the time my mother was going berserk since she's always been wanting a chicken so she called her friend about what to do while me and my little 4 year old sister Daney fed her bread since we didn't exactly know what else to give her. While my mother was on the phone asking what to do I did something more useful and quick.

I went on the internet and searched it myself. I learned more about chickens than Mom did in that phone call and by then I was in it to keep this chicken no matter what. I would come out occasionally to check to see if she was still there (She was) and feed her.
By the time the day was coming to an end my whole family had met her and already fell in love.
However, the real challenge was during the night. She took rest in our bushes and we'd check to make sure she was there. Then, all of a sudden I heard a big WHOOSH and immediately alerting my mother that I didn't think our newly found chicken was Ok we went outside to look. Sure enough she was gone. We called her name, we looked everywhere, but alas, she was gone.
(In case you couldn't tell, I'm a bit on the dramatic side.)

Not shedding tears that night, (Ok fine maybe I cried a little it was my only pet after all.) I was quite depressed by morning. By afternoon though when I was out my dad called saying that my chicken came back! (Uh, I mean, OUR chicken. *cough*) We all did a celebratory dance in the car.

So, really, that's how the adventures of Taylor has become. That was Day One and a half. Later I shalt post Day Two. Basically I just want to keep record of how we took care of my chicken, Taylor and just devote this memory to my pet whom I love. Next time I'll tell you about the trials of putting her in the kennel. Yeesh that was hard...

But anyways this how I got a chicken. Pretty epic, huh? I hope to have her forever! (Or if one of us dies, it's only a matter of time.)

For all you chicken lovers out there...*Cluck, cluck!* (Chicken for bye-bye)
